My Pension Online

My Pension Online has been upgraded with stronger security features (including SMS Multi-Factor Authentication and electronic ID checks). We’ve also made the registration process simpler for new members.

There are now different ways you can create a My Pension Online account. The process you will need to follow depends on whether you’ve registered before or whether you’re a new user:

You've previously registered for My Pension Online

Follow these steps if you've previously registered for My Pension Online.

You will have previously created a username, password and security questions to login to your account.

You now need to create a new account on our upgraded platform:

Step 1 - Create an account

Go to the My Pension Online Create an account page. Provide the following information to receive an email with the next steps:

  • Surname
  • National Insurance number
  • Date of birth

Step 2 - Check your emails

You’ll receive an email to the address held on your pension record. Follow the link to continue the registration progress.

Tip: The link is only valid for 24 hours. You'll need to repeat Step 1 if the link expires.

Step 3 - Provide your mobile number

Enter your mobile number when prompted. This is to add an extra layer of security to your account.

Tip: Please contact us if you don’t have a mobile number or live in a country that does not support one-time passcodes through text messages.

Step 4 - Check your mobile for the one-time passcode

You’ll receive a text message from ‘LGPSDERBYSH’. This message will include a one-time 6-digit code.

Step 5 - Finish your registration

Enter the 6-digit code received from ‘LGPSDERBYSH’ to finish your registration.

Tip: From now on, you’ll log in to My Pension Onlineusing your email address, password, and a one-time passcode.

You're new to My Pension Online

Follow these steps if you’re new to My Pension Online:

Step 1 - Create an account

Go to the My Pension Online Create an account page. Provide the following information to receive an email with the next steps:

  • Surname
  • National Insurance number
  • Date of birth

You can then choose to follow either Step 2a or Step 2b:

Step 2a – Electronic ID verification

This is the standard and quickest way to verify your identity. You’ll be asked to take a photo of your ID (such as your passport or driving licence) and a photo of yourself.

When the process is complete, you will then move onto Step 3.

Tip: If the electronic ID verification is unsuccessful, you can follow Step 2b instead.

Step 2b – Activation key

You can request an activation key as an alternative to Electronic ID Verification. We’ll provide this in a letter to your home address within 10 working days.

When you receive your letter, go to the My Pension Online Create an account page and select ‘I have an activation key’. Provide the following information:

  • Surname
  • National Insurance number
  • Date of birth
  • Activation key included in the letter you have received

Step 3 - Email address

You’ll be asked to enter the email address you’d like to register with.

Tip: Use your personal email instead of a work email, so we can still contact you if you change or leave employment.

Step 4 - Check your email for a one-time passcode

You’ll receive an email from us. This will include a 6-digit code which you must enter to continue.

Step 5 - Provide your mobile number

Enter your mobile number when prompted. This is to add an extra layer of security to your account.

Tip: Please contact us if you don’t have a mobile number or if you live in a country that doesn't support one-time passcodes through text messages.
