Our Board members
Our Board is a crucial part of the governance arrangements for the Fund. It assists and supports Derbyshire County Council in its role as the administering authority of the Fund.
The Board is made up of 5 members:
- 2 scheme member representatives
- 2 employer representatives
- an independent Chair
As a Board member, you’ll:
- attend Board meetings
- understand the Board’s Terms of Reference attached to this page
- help to make sure that the Fund is effectively administered
- assist with ensuring that an effective governance framework for managing the Fund is maintained
- contribute to the Fund’s compliance with relevant laws, regulations and codes of practice• share your views of being a scheme employer
- undertake training as required
- ensure the regulations around conflicts of interest are adhered to
The person we’re looking for
Our new employer representative will:
- have a good understanding of an LGPS employer’s responsibilities
- share the employer’s perspective on Fund matters with the Board
- have an awareness of the current issues facing LGPS and other public sector pension schemes
- understand the importance of maintaining a good governance framework
- feed into reviews of the Fund’s administration and investment developments
- be willing to undertake training
The time commitment
Board meetings usually take place 2-4 times each year.
The Board’s meetings are held at County Hall, Matlock. Some future meetings may be held virtually through Microsoft Teams.
Meetings and training are held during normal office hours. This means you must have the support of your employer so you can commit to the role.
Each Board member’s duration in the role is 4 years.
The role
The role is voluntary and unpaid; however, we cover expenses including travel and training for our Board members.
