As an elected member, you pay a percentage of your pensionable pay into the LGPS. For more information on what counts as pensionable pay for elected members please refer to pensionable pay for elected members

Your contribution rate is based on how much you are paid and depends on which pay band you fall into. When you join, and every April afterwards, your relevant authority will determine the appropriate contribution rate. If your pay changes throughout the year, they may decide to review your contribution rate.If you receive more than one pensionable allowance and these are paid by different authorities, your contribution rate will be assessed separately by each authority.

If you elect for the 50/50 section of the scheme, you would pay half the contribution rate and build up pension at half the rate. The contribution rates and pay bands are reviewed annually and may change in the future. The current contribution rates can be viewed on our Paying in webpage.
